Imi Knoebel – Works from Private Collections

We are pleased to present the exhibition „Imi Knoebel – Works from Private Collections“ in our gallery this fall. The exhibition focuses on the artist’s work between 1975 and the mid 1990’s. As Hubertus Butin points out in his essay for the catalogue accompanying the exhibition, many of the themes that occupy Knoebel to this day crystallize within that period. It is the fascinating interplay of a rigorous practice combined with the serious but also frequently playful exploration of the possibilities of abstraction and color that underscore Knoebel’s singular position within his generation in Germany.
